Letters to the Foundation

The Schneider Family

EPD Foundation Directors,

My family and I are humbled by the outpouring of prayers, care, concern, and support for us when our lives changed on May 25th. I fear I’ve often taken for granted the relationships I’ve have in my day to day life, but I am so grateful for our families, friends, church family, and our EPD family.

The road to recovery for all of us will take some time, but please know that you’ve made a difference in our family. The generosity of the EPD Foundation will be used in a dedicated and meaningful way. I can’t put into words how happy and thankful we are to have Colleen at home. Please share our heartfelt appreciation with the other EPD Foundation Directors and Governors that I do not have contact information. God bless you all.

Laura Molinet

Dear Scholarship Donor,

I have dreamed of attending Purdue University ever since I was young and now that I have been named as one of the recipients in the Evansville Police Department Foundation Scholarship program, my dream is continuing to become a reality. I am glad to have the opportunity to thank you personally for your generosity. Without scholarship patrons like you, there would be many students such as myself unable to attend the college and pursue the career they’ve dreamed of.

My future plans include gaining my undergraduate degree and then, hopefully, going to Purdue’s College of Veterinary Medicine. I not only have a passion for medicine but also enjoy working with animals.

Once again, I offer my sincerest thanks for your continued generosity to the Evansville Police Department Foundation Scholarship.

Re: International Conference of Police Chaplains

Dear Board Members,

On behalf of Pastor Tyrone Edwards and myself, please accept our heartfelt apology for the tardiness of this “Thank You” note AND our gratitude for your generous investment in our development as police chaplains.

The training that was provided at the recent International Conference of Police Chaplains in Indianapolis was excellent.  We were treated very courteously and professionally by all the staff and presenters.

After receiving more information, we decided that we wanted to pursue the “Basic Training Level” of study and were able to complete 10 of the required 12 core-courses to achieve this level.  These classes included the following:

  • Stress Management
  • Post Shooting Syndrome
  • Burn-out (Officers and Chaplains)
  • Ethics
  • Responding to a Crisis Situation
  • Law Enforcement Family
  • Substance Abuse
  • Suicide
  • Officer Injury or Death
  • Sensitivity and Diversity

The information we received, and the camaraderie we experienced, challenged us to be more determined to be excellent chaplains and more impactful members of the EPD team and family.

Emily Sandullo

Dear Evansville Police Department Foundation,

I wanted to write you this letter to personally Thank You for sending me to the Traumas of Law Enforcement Conference.  This was one of the best conferences I have attended.  I was able to spend these days with my husband who was involved in a critical incident 10 years ago.  It was a chance for us to hear other real-life examples of situations and how we can help people deal with them. It was very informative and emotional at the same time.

I am honored to be a part of the Evansville Police Department Family Support Team.  I know that we will be able to make a difference and start a group that can continue for many years.

Again, I really appreciate the chance to attend this conference and I look forward to putting together a valuable support team for our families.

Lori Barron

To the Evansville Police Department Foundation,

I just wanted to tell you to thank you so very much for sending Emily and me to “The Traumas of Law Enforcement” conference. I have been an RN for many years, and this is one of the best conferences I have ever attended. Being a part of the Family Support Team on the police department has great significance for me since my husband was involved in a critical incident a few years ago. Being able to learn more to help other spouses, family members and friends of officers that have been involved with critical incidents will make a positive impact on the lives of many.

This conference taught us about the wonderful benefits of Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS), support services available to surviving families, how to help with a traumatized officer, police suicide and post-traumatic stress syndrome.

After talking with other officers and families at this conference, I know without a doubt that Evansville is on the cutting edge of what we do to help our officers and their families when a critical incident happens. I hope the department and our community realize how fortunate we are in the tri-state. Thanks again for this wonderful opportunity.

Jane Snelling

A very special “thank you” from the bottom of my grateful little heart!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the EPD Foundation for paying my medical insurance premium while hospitalized in December 2008 with pneumonia.  This was a big relief in my recovery.  Please consider me in the future for volunteerism with the Foundation.
