K9 Unit
These dedicated officers and disciplined K9 teams assist patrol police in detecting narcotics, explosives, aid in apprehending fleeing or hiding individuals, and help keep us safe. Evansville Police Foundation funds provide the Unit with training and equipment (E.g. protective K9 vests and K9 first aid kits).
K9 Unit & Officers
The Evansville Police Department K9 program is a volunteer program. Officers are selected through a screening process to join this select group of officers. K9 officers and their families understand that assignment to the unit involves commitment–caring for the dog and spending many hours away from home conducting training exercises. The Evansville Police Foundation ensures that our officers are able to receive K9s, an extremely valuable tool to Law Enforcement. The K9 teams make the job much safer for the officers in our community because of their exceptional scenting abilities. Support the K9 program and donate today.
